Major Lazer made history by raising the bar to a whole new level in entertainment on Curaçao this past Saturday 21st at Kleine Werf. Major Lazer, one of the biggest live acts of the moment arrived at Hato Airport on Saturday afternoon in a private charter jet coming in from Jamaica and bringing along as a special surprise guest none other than 6 time Grammy award winner: Skrillex. This year alone Skrillex swept the electronic music category at the Grammys winning the award for Best Dance Recording, Best Dance/Electronica Album and Best Remixed Recording Non-Classical, all three categories which he won last year as well.
“We are extremely proud to have Skrillex as a special surprise guest at our festival only in our second edition. It goes to show that dreams do come true with hard work and dedication” said Esteban Mendez, Co-Founder and Executive Producer of ParadiseWorld.
The artists were well impressed with the level of quality and professionalism provided by the organization. From the state-of-the-art stage and production to the hospitality and 24 hour detailed security escort, ParadiseWorld made a point to give the artists the best experience possible on the island. “I love Curaçao” commented Skrillex.
Major Lazer took the people of Curaçao on an unforgettable journey giving them a performance like no other. From producer Diplo walking over the crowd in his plastic bubble to getting everyone to take off their shirts and throw them in the air to inviting ladies from the crowd on stage to dance, the night was one that will not soon be forgotten in Curaçao.
The entire festival experience proved once again that ParadiseWorld has stayed true to their word of innovating and delivering entertainment at a level never seen before on the island.
World-renowned event photographer Rutger Geerling, who shoots for the prestigious National Geographic also made the trip from The Netherlands to document this historic event with his amazing photography.
Next to the headliners, other acts included the revolutionary KiT (Kuenta i Tambù), who gave an outstanding live performance introducing their eclectic Tambutronic, a fusion of the traditional Tambù with electronic music. Also present was Curaçao’s own world-class resident DJ NRG who at the age of 17 is doing an amazing job representing the island in the eyes of the world.
ParadiseWorld would like to extend their gratitude to their partner Curaçao Tourism Board, all sponsors, media partners, festival attendees and the entire island of Curaçao. It was an absolute pleasure making the second edition of ParadiseWorld possible and we look forward to doing it al over again next year.
